KCL Jazz Society
Black History Month Talk
On October 28th 2020, KCL Jazz Society supported Black History Month by organising a talk about the history of Jazz from the late 19th century up to the 1960s.
The talk compared different recordings of artists throughout the early 20th century, and considered how the racial politics in the USA impacted the reputation, performance and popularity of Jazz in the USA.
The event was co-organised with the KCL International Students Network’s two-day Voices for Change event, featuring talks by the Gavel Society, East-African Society, Literary Society, Women’s Network, Film Society, Global Brigades, Indian Political Society, ASEAN Society, Turkic Society and Poetry Society. The event was concluded with our good friends from the Modern Music Society.
